It’s great to know that there are still teachers who are passionate about what they do and can inspire students, fostering creative and innovation in the classroom. I know that there needs to be more education reform particularly in our inner city schools. The question is how do you build the sort of curriculum where most student succeed despite learning disabilities or behavioral issues. I know this seems almost impossible to accomplish, but inspiration is the key to reform. I think teachers that I had a significant impact on my life were those that were passionate educators who were willing to get to know me and what wanted to do in the world. Although my dreams and aspiration seem farfetched considering my current position, I remember the teacher that inspired me. Particularly, I remember my Teacher Ms. Ford who talked to me after school and encouraged me to continue reading. Her affirmations really fostered that confidence now I can say I’ve graduated college. She saw the gold in me though not many people did and encouraged to exceed despite the obstacle. I values these teachers who are creative and making sure that students are engaged in the learning process.Donald Medorhttp://bit.ly/I1rg9unoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4162714508795282979.post-42299050770575664162011-06-18T23:46:34.036-05:002011-06-18T23:46:34.036-05:00I agree with justsouno about this one. Also, why are the parents not being solicited for help with the students completing assignments?leslie.lalahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06377590731545447546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4162714508795282979.post-28000934390536238422011-02-19T10:59:24.505-06:002011-02-19T10:59:24.505-06:00Thank you for the informative article. As a future administrator, I think it is important for the administrator to address the school as a whole, and set reasonable expectations. We started PBIS within our school this year. Even though PBIS is a behavior based program, it helped to set clear expectations and common language amongst the entire school. These expectations have definitely trickled down to student behavior and academics within the classroom.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4162714508795282979.post-44445436309238076402011-02-06T03:02:51.753-06:002011-02-06T03:02:51.753-06:00My challenge is at the beginning of the school yea...My challenge is at the beginning of the school year I don't know my students well enough to ascertain what their personal best looks like. I always include one with projects and essays. I tell my students that this helps them to know how the assignment will be graded, and it helps me grade fairly.

Thanks for the good advice, though, about not accepting unacceptable work. This provides formative feedback before giving a summative grade.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
